Life Members A highlight of the mid-winter dinner on Wednesday, 8th July, 2009 was the presentation of life membership to Graeme Fountain and Ron Thomson. These awards are tangible recognition of those whose early ideas and efforts have resulted in a club which so many have enjoyed over the years.
	Graeme Fountain arranged for the inaugural meeting to be held and became the Club’s founding president, a role he held from 1981 to 1986. He has presented at meetings, he spoke at the club’s 25th birthday dinner in 2007 and has been our Honorary Auditor since 1995.
	Ron Thomson was also a founding member of the club and one of its original committee members. He served on the committee for 9 years, becoming the vice president in 1982 and then its president in 1986, a role he continued until 1989. He was also editor of the club’s newsletter from 1982 to 1989. He continued to attend meetings each month until he moved to Waikanae in mid 1998. He and his partner Barbara have continued to attend most club dinners and barbecues.
